I've put a request through on behalf of User:DrFolamour for a translation link for the wiki. We should end up with fr.torei.wikia.com and we'll be able to link to pages by language as well.

What's on your mind?

How strict are you handling picture licenses on the the wiki?
Obviously, I made the 'Banner of Torei' myself from simple geometric forms in photoshop. But what about other pictures? I see you took some from DA. Do you have permission from the artists? And what about other sources?
For example, sample photos of commercial sites that they placed on the internet for promotional purposes are usually considered 'fair use', but it is unclear if that kind of argumentation would stand up in court. Usually no one complains, though.

I don't think a child has ever appeared in a Torean story, yet, even as a bystander. I was wondering from a world-building viewpoint, how are children born, raised and cared for an Torei?
For Verdan, I was thinking that they are raised by the mother alone - except for male children which are raised together by the couple or even by the father alone. The state would probably support single mothers and education in the state-run schools is free. Teenage girls who want to achieve a higher education will then need to find a 'sponsor' - basically a sugar daddy - and its their first taste at living under contract.
I didn't get around to writing it, though (I wanted to bring up the topic in letter of mark some day anyway).
Any thoughts?
We now have a list of story codes that are in use with our Torei stories. Feel free to expand the list as needed.
If there is something you want to change about the way codes are used or if you think that some codes should be merged for simplicity, or split for clarity, then please discuss it here.
I am the author of the story and active on this wikia. So if you have any questions regarding Letter of Mark or Verdan, the ringdom it takes place in, then feel free to ask.
I've just sicced my newsblur account on http://torei.wikia.com/wiki/Special:RecentChanges?feed=rss which is an RSS feed of all edits and actions on this wiki. I know RSS is kind of a niche technology these days, but I still use it to keep track of all the things on the Internet that I want to follow!
I've dolled up the Template:Infobox_story and Template:Infobox_character templates to interact, as you can see with The Lead and how they link back and forth to Alice and Deco.
While chatting with User:Satan_Klaus, we decided that cataloguing stories and characters was probably less interesting than actually cataloguing setting data like places and institutions. So what sort of infoboxes should we work up?
We have Template:Infobox_ringdom for ringdoms, but what else should we have?
anything else come to mind?
I've been working on the organisation of this wiki, because I feel that the ability to move text around quickly is core to the system. This wiki allows you to quickly go through and tag articles (as I've done with <tt>{{stub}}</tt> in many cases), and then to run through lists of articles with the same tag and work on fixing them up.
It's great, and Torei_Wiki:Community_Portal#Things_to_do has a number of links to lists of "low-hanging fruit" for editors to get involved with.
I've coded up a few that I believe should be mandatory for certain kinds of pages. Here are the ones I think are most essential:
Some of these will need to change as we come up with other pieces of information we hope to include in those infoboxes.
I've been reading w:c:wowwiki:WoWWiki:Manual_of_Style, which seems like a great resource full of things to nick for our own installation. They have guidelines pages full of classical wiki advice such as Be Bold in Updating Pages and some useful fan-fiction guidelines. I'm also suitably curious about the wikipedia-style Democracy Templates!
But we must start small, and organise as the need arises. What we have now is already pretty helpful for keeping standards. Once we have scribbled out more pages, we'll have a better handle on what standards we desire. sapere aude!
I've decided to make the Shaw Alphabet the official script for Torei, just as a stylistic way to write things in English in images and have them appear 'alien'. I'm busy creating a set of templates so that you can just do {{tot}} to get a character image in your text.
I'd prefer to do this with unicode, but the font question is a bit difficult. If anyone has a quick way to get a shavian-capable webfont going I'd love to know.
